Happy Anniversary!

As of this writing, it is still right before midnight for me here in San Diego. I'm sitting on my bed, typing into my Surface Pro, thinking about my cantaloupe. I just got home from a session of practice driving, with me showing my newly immigrated cousins what navigating the streets of our neighborhood feels like. Today was a "full day". I put in some part time hours at the tax firm where I work at, made a service visit to adjust sprinkler timers at an apartment for my landscaping business, hung out with some friends to avoid southbound traffic hour and finally arrived home to rest...at least, that's what I thought I was getting before learning my two cousins passed their driver's permit test.
Valery and I have been messaging back and forth a few times today, and she made sure to give me a call before she checked in for the night. I was busy hanging onto dear life when Valery called, since my cousin Helen was driving...but I managed to find a big enough street to instruct Helen to drive in circular laps so I can focus on Valery.
It was almost midnight in Texas when she called me, so I brought up a few tidbits about our year past. I volunteered to share with Valery what some of my favorite moments were in the previous 365 days, and she shared some of hers. And it was delightful to hear her response. I had no idea her number one favorite thing to do with me was....taking naps together! I think taking the time to survey your partner and get their feedback is important, because it helps you recognize what is meaningful to them. In the times we've spent together we have visited a museum, coffee and smoothie shops, various restaurants, a skating rink, a wildlife preserve, and even a romantic historic park... (where we kissed in the rain I might add)...and yet her favorite moment was when we passed out from doing all of those events!
Here I am, working hard to impress Valery and showing off how outgoing I am...and all she wanted to do with me was just to spend some quiet time together. Knowing this, going forward in year number 2, I am definitely going to allocate more "chill time" with Valery on my next visit. Just us. Nothing fancy. Maybe a churro or tea on the table but besides that, all I want for 2017 is Valery.
Happy Anniversary Cantaloupe ^_^
