The day after 9/11

(insert cheesey greeting here)

Yesterday was September 11th, 2016. As it is for many Americans, it was a day when most of us reflected on the lives lost but it also took us back to where we were in 2001 when the event took place. For me, I remembered waking up late for school that day expecting to walk into my lively homeroom filled with discussions of economic principles and the latest gossip...only to find that the entire class was dead silent. Well, everything was silent except for the nineteen-inch television that was wheeled into the room, broadcasting news that the first twin tower was hit.

Before coming to San Diego in February of 2016, I ran a human resource department at a fire district in Arizona. Some of my connections on Facebook were the firefighters I used to work with (and hired). So it filled my heart with patriotic pride to see them share their stories of 9/11 and I was instantly reminded of all the great sacrifices that many has made for our freedom.

So what did I do on 9/11? Nothing special. It was a Sunday, so I took my recently-transplanted-from-Vietnam cousin to her very first Christian church service. After that we went to a place called "The Living Room" for lunch, and then proceeded to Seaport Village so I can show her the ships in the harbor. It turns out my cousin was also into photography (I have just purchased a new camera a few days earlier), and she handled some of the shots pretty well. I'll show you :)
